Manuel calls this piece "Un Pocito de Color" ( A Little Bit of Color). Looks like she has glamorized herself into the ultimate sugar skull for her appearance on Day of the Dead!
Manuel has agreed to collaborate on a HALLOWEEN version of this canvas and I'm really looking forward to painting it. Hopefully we can get her finished before October 31st.
What a wonderful canvas! You guys did good. I want to stitch this one!
ReplyDeleteJane, waving happily from CH where we think Un Pocito is a real charmer
Hi Jane - I just offered it up for grabs to anyone that would write a guide, and you beat me to the punch. If you want really want to do it, it's yours...you're stitching skills far surpass mine!
ReplyDeleteI want to. But I can't until next winter at the earliest. I'm committed to two more new Leigh pieces and then a Christmas present for the granddaughter. If you can wait I will do it for you then.
ReplyDeleteI'm blabbing about this on Blog tomorrow. Wait and see what I say before you pick me to stitch this for a guide for you. Besides, I refuse to believe you can't do this piece justice. You are a better stitcher than you think.
Since I can't even get this one into production until I do the Halloween version (I'm not about to figure out the count on all those bones again!) it won't even be available until October, so I'm not worried about timing. But...I'll wait until your blog tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteSounds like the timing will work for you. I really really want to stitch her but I can wait if you can....
ReplyDeleteYou might want the Halloween version stitched instead, though. Well, we will wait. Can I go stand and stare at Manuel while he works? LOL
Either canvas would be fine - your choice when the next one is finished. Since Manuel lives in New Mexico I can't watch him either - but we'll be collaborating on line, so I'll do sneak peeks from time to time as we progress.
ReplyDeleteOh Ladies (Peggi and Jane) someone please do this! I have to have her and a stitch guide would be essential! I can't wait to see the Halloween version as that is my first stitching love! But I did fall in love with her on first sight. It would be so much fun to stitch!
ReplyDeleteCarole Gatza
SOMEBODY do it. It is magnificent. It is going to take a lot of different threads so I hope you keep track for us mere mortals.
ReplyDeleteCarole and Margaret, we are going to stitch one or both versions (Halloween and original) so not to worry. Just be patient. Peggi's gotta paint this and I have to get tons of stitching done before I can start it. But the canvases will be ready in October sometimes and a guide a few months after that.
ReplyDeleteLove it, and it its my personality so well. I can see the mask done all in beads!! Sandra who really needs to get going a ton of projects before thinking about another one - but I love it so.
ReplyDeleteI just love this canvas, and a stich guide from Jane, Woo Hoo! Where in NM does Manuel live?? I still own my house down there as the market is really slow. I will be going soon to check on it in Albuquerque......I have some real sugar skulls.
ReplyDeleteSheena in Westlake.....
Sheena - I'm not sure exactly where Manuel lives as I am not that familiar with the area, but you can see more of his artwork at the Day of the Dead gallery that is owned by Johnny Salas in Oldtown Albuquerque. It is one of the upstairs shops in one of the little side areas surrounding the big square - just ask someone there for directions - I think it's the only gallery of it's kind.
ReplyDeleteHi, can i buy a guide for this tapestry?
ReplyDeleteThanks in advance guys, i love it!
Khru - You can buy it as soon as Jane and Janet stitch it and write the guide. Keep checking her blog - chillyhollownp.blogspot.com - for progress & availability starting in January.
ReplyDeleteIs it available without a stitch guide? I absolutely love this!!
