A Lot of Ribbon!

It's finally time to get back to blogging again after taking a rather long break to close a retail shop, reorganize everything (well, almost everything), and paint a lot of new canvases for the upcoming TNNA winter show.

I did find time to stitch a little, and managed to finish this piece - P2 - The Hen - a licensed design by New Mexico artist Peggy O'Leary.

The hen is stitched entirely in different colors and widths of silk ribbon from Treenway Silks and The Threadgatherer, with the addition of Barbara Elmore's Sparkles and a few beads.  All this random stitching was a new experience for me, but went rather quickly once I got the hang of it.

The framed piece will be displayed at market, with a stitch  and fiber guide to follow.

    1. Thanks Jane - a little on the feminist side, but I love it anyway.

  2. Most hens are feminists. They rule the roost, after all!

    1. Thank you Sheena. It was an interesting adventure to use all that ribbon and try to make it look like Peggy O's painting rather than traditional needlepoint.
