Early Christmas Present

I've been collecting stitched canvases for years, and after the move I finally found the incentive and time to finish pinning them together and turn it over to the upholsterer.

Most of these pieces are stitched in basketweave for durability, with a few decorative stitches on the back of the chair.

Thanks to Santa and Eric Hennesey of Quintessentials Custom Upholstery...he is a genius!

Ann Spiess Mills

For those of you who are Ann Spiess Mills fans, we are pleased to announce that we have received permission  from her family to adapt her art to handpainted needlepoint.

Because her canvases were one-of-a-kind, I'll have to work from whatever originals I can find.  Luckily I have been able to get my hands on about a dozen, but at some point I'll have to do a shout-out for more.  If anyone has some in their stash we are offering a free new canvas in exchange for borrowing an original.

San Pasqual is the first, and I'll try to get more painted in time for the TNNA January show.

Royalties will go into a college fund for Ann's great grandchildren.

We're Moving1

As of 9-1-17 our new address will be:

Tapestry Fair
733 East Tuckey Lane
Phoenix, AZ 85014

After 30 years in the same location, it's been an extensive move, but I think it will be worth it once we get back to normal.

After this. Destination Dallas will seem like a vacation.!  We will be showing two new artists, as well as new pieces from Kelly Rae Roberts. Manuel Salas, Pat Scheurich , Story Quilts, and Timothy Chapman.  Hope to see you there!

New Canvas

I  finally finished this new piece by Timothy Chapman.  It is called "Hippo Swimming", but I like to think this will be Fiona when she grows up.

TC-5, "Hippo Swimming", will be available in September  for the Dallas show.  If any shops would like to pre-order I can bring the canvases to the show.

                                                   #822   Garden Bunny Beanbag

Paulette Paquette, of Family Arts Needlework Shop, will soon be starting a class on our dimensional Garden Bunny.  The class is scheduled to begin in May, so there will be enough time to complete her for next Easter.

Another Finish!

We finally got this one finished!!! Stitched by Patty O'Malley and me, from a Tony Minieri stitch guide, with a few changes.  This canvas incorporated lots of techniques and was really fun.  The most difficult part was finding the "right" feather.

New Canvas - New Artist

                                                                    LH-1  Sitting Coyote

We are fortunate to obtain licensing for needlepoint from Leland Holiday, a Navajo artist living on the reservation in New Mexico.  His original art is featured at the Toh-Atin Gallery (www.toh-atin.com) as well as other galleries in Wyoming, Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona and New York.

This is only the first of Leland's wonderful animals - more to come!

A Finish!

KRR-3   Come Back to Center by Kelly Rae Roberts

Judy Wells stitched this in a class with Meredith Willett, and this is the result of their combined talent.  I know this was a difficult project, but they succeeded in really bringing this canvas to life.
